ChiSurf Launches Regional Chapter of The Open Group in China

Chinese Group Brings Number of Chapters Around the Globe to 10

San Francisco, CA - June 18, 2002 - The Open Group has signed an agreement with ChiSurf (Hong Kong Ltd), based in Beijing and Hong Kong, to serve as the consortium's Regional Chapter representative in China. The Open Group also has Regional Chapter agreements in place in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia & New Zealand, India, Portugal, Japan, Germany, Korea, and Italy.

Ronald Fons, Managing Director of ChiSurf, said, "We're proud to be members of The Open Group family. Our aim is to deliver localized added value to this market and engage participants from this country at all levels of membership. Also, we plan to leverage the experience of other Regional Chapter partners, all of whom have already expressed their willingness to support us."

"This Regional Chapter will be run by and for Chinese members," said Allen Brown, President and CEO of The Open Group. "They will determine the content, location and objectives of their meetings on an independent basis, calling on The Open Group's staff to assist as and when required."

During the next 12 months ChiSurf will organize a number of one-day meetings, in Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong in order to promote the vision and mission of The Open Group.
