Leading Standards Organizations Form Council to Coordinate Activities

The Open Group, OMG, TM Forum, and ETIS Aim to Stop Redundancy; Focus on Synergy Among Consortia Sets Precedent

San Francisco, CA - January 21, 2002 - The Open Group, The Object Management Group (OMG™), the TeleManagement Forum (TM Forum), and e- and Telecommunications Information Services (ETIS) announce the formation of the Executive Coordination Council (ECC) in order to improve each organization's efficiency in providing their respective members with top-notch service and value.

Spearheaded by the management executives from the aforementioned standards groups, the ECC's goal is to maximize the synergy between the organizations, minimize work redundancy, and ultimately optimize the activities of each organization to create a stronger output of collective achievement from which members of all of the organizations benefit. To meet these goals, the ECC will meet semi-annually, share calendars of meetings, seminars, conferences and workshops, issue statements of support for new specifications, technologies and projects, and promote cross-membership between the organizations.

"The Open Group is committed to delivering the maximum business value to our members. The Executive Coordination Council allows us to liaise with other consortia, cut down on overlapping efforts, and deliver industry-wide business solutions in conjunction with the Council's other members," said Allen Brown, President and CEO of The Open Group.

"OMG is delighted to strengthen our collaboration with TM Forum, The Open Group and ETIS through this agreement. Improved mind-share for standards in the telecommunications world plus increased membership satisfaction will be a result of the groups' coordination efforts," commented Richard Soley, Chairman and CEO, OMG.

"The TeleManagement Forum is eager to take part in this opportunity to create strong partnerships with OMG, The Open Group and ETIS. Cooperation among these organizations is paramount to our industry's success as well as enhancing our member's value. We look forward to making significant progress on key issues," noted Jim Warner, President and CEO of the TM Forum.

"ETIS is very pleased to be part of this important initiative to strengthen bilateral and multilateral relationship with other key organizations such OMG, TMF and The Open Group. We are convinced that such cooperation will lead to better value for our respective and sometimes common members, and for the benefits of the industry at large," remarked Richard Sitruk, Director of External Relations at ETIS.
