DMTF President to Focus on Standards-based Management of Web Services at The Open Group's "Boundaryless Information Flow: The Role of Web Services" Conference

Portland. OR and San Francisco, CA - June 21, 2002 - Winston Bumpus, President of the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF) and Director of Open Technologies and Standards at Novell, Inc, will address "Standards-based Management of Web Services" at The Open Group's conference on "Boundaryless Information Flow: The Role of Web Services," to be held in Boston July 22-26. The Open Group's vision of "Boundaryless Information Flow" expresses the goal of people in an enterprise having access to information with relevance and purpose, and the ability to exchange it seamlessly, securely, and in a timely manner with customers, vendors, and other business associates.

"In taking a close look at the DMTF Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM), it is clear how these standards play a key role in the deployment, monitoring and control of boundaryless information flow," said Bumpus. WBEM was one of the central topics of the DMTF's Developer's Conference, June 10-13 in San Jose, CA.

Winston Bumpus is co-author of Common Information Model (John Wiley & Sons, 1999) and The Foundations of Application Management (John Wiley & Sons, 1999). He participated on the DMTF Common Information Model (CIM) development and was chair of its Application Management Working Group.
