The Open Group’s Secure Messaging Toolkit Published and Publicly Available

Boston, MA – July 24, 2002 – The Open Group Messaging Forum premiered its Secure Messaging Challenge Toolkit and Summary Report at The Open Group’s weeklong conference on Boundaryless Information Flow. The toolkit developed out of The Boeing Company’s Secure Messaging Challenge to The Open Group and follows a practical demonstration of secure messaging at The Open Group’s January conference.

The Toolkit is a detailed implementation guide intended to assist companies in setting up their own secure messaging environment using the architecture and methodology developed by the Challenge Team. The architecture allows the exchange of strongly encrypted email using a standards-based, vendor neutral architecture that does not require manual key exchange. The Summary Report conveys the findings and conclusions from the Challenge.

Conference attendees received copies of the Toolkit and Summary Report. They will be made publicly available The Open Group website within one week. A case study on the Challenge is available at www.opengroup.org/comm/case-studies/boeing_challenge.pdf.
