SAN FRANCISCO, February 28, 2008 –The
Open Group, a vendor- and technology-neutral consortium focused
on open standards and global interoperability within and
between enterprises, today announced the agenda for its 18th
Architecture Practitioners Conference, to be held April 21-23,
2008 at the Radisson SAS Hotel in Glasgow, Scotland.
This globally recognized event series was created by and
for enterprise architecture practitioners to examine a wide
variety of topics that are impacting the profession. The
Glasgow event will discuss the core elements of an Enterprise
Architecture that provide the foundation for a dynamic and
                    successful business environment: service-oriented architecture
(SOA); frameworks, including TOGAF™, and skills; and
                    experience-based certification.
The three-day event will utilize real-world case studies,
testimonials and panel discussions to showcase best practices,
standards, tools and technologies that are being used to
develop today’s most successful enterprise architectures.
The conference will cover three key focus areas, one per
day. The first day will cover the element of architecture,
examine the business dimensions of SOA, and demonstrate how
it can deliver improved information flow and enterprise agility.
Subsequent days will focus on the value of TOGAF (The Open
Group Architecture Framework), then on the increasing role
of standards and skills necessary to address the complexities
                    of enterprise architecture.
“We continue to be excited by the outstanding support
we receive for our Enterprise Architecture Practitioners
Conferences and are especially looking forward to the next
event being held in Glasgow,” said Allen Brown, president
and CEO, The Open Group. “These events have become
the place for enterprise architects to learn from each other,
both through the formal sessions and via the peer networking
opportunities, and subsequently communicate this knowledge
                    back to their organizations.”
