              IT, Security Industry Consortia Come Together at The Open Group Security
      Conference
      San Francisco, CA – February 3, 2003 – Citing ways their
        groups might collaborate, key executives from IT and security industry
        consortia focused on “Industry Strategies for Securing Boundaryless
        Information” at The Open Group winter conference. The conference,
        entitled Boundaryless Information Flow: Keeping IT Secure, runs through
        Friday at the Hyatt Regency, San Francisco Airport. 
      “The Open Group’s members use our quarterly conferences
        to bring key consortia together - a rare occurrence in the IT arena,” said
        Allen Brown, President and CEO of The Open Group. “It gives consortia
        leaders a chance to reduce overlap and conflict between programs, which
        helps all our groups serve members with greater strength and efficiency.” 
      The following speakers outlined their strategies for implementing policies,
        procedures and standards that will assist industry or government bodies
        in achieving a secure information environment: 
      
        - Patricia Gilmore, Treasurer,
          System Security Certification Consortium (ISC2). A well-known security
          consultant, Gilmore is a member of the
          National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST) Technical Working
          Groups for Examination of Digital Evidence writing national guidelines
          for investigation of computer-related crime scenes and computer forensics.
 
        - Charles
          LeGrand, Assistant Vice President, Technology Practices, The Institute
          of Internal Auditors. A professional technologist and internal
          auditor, LeGrand provides direction to all areas of The IIA on the
impacts of technology on professional audit practices, and the use of technology
          to deliver and promote programs and products for the profession and
practitioners.
 
        - Dr. Bill Hancock, CISSP is Chairman of the Internet Security Alliance
          (ISA) and the Vice President of Security and Chief Security Officer
          of Cable and Wireless, where he is responsible for global security
          for the
          world’s largest web hosting company and one of the largest IP
          networks in the world. Hancock is the chair of the FCC NRIC Homeland
          Defense focus
          group on cybersecurity where his team developed the first set of best
          practices for cybersecurity issues to protect U.S. infrastructure.
 
        - Laura
          Lundin is Senior Director of BITS, the technology group for the Financial
          Services Roundtable. Lundin oversees the operations of the
          Financial Institution Data Evaluation and Security, LLC and manages
the development efforts of software product security criteria and vendor
          relations for the BITS Product Certification Program. She also directs
          financial services industry projects on cyber security, cyber insurance,
          risk assessment, and risk management issues at BITS.
 
        -  “Candy” Frances Alexander, CISSP, is Vice President,
          International Relations of the Information Systems Security Association
          (ISSA). In this
          role, she explores and implements plans to increase ISSA’s presence
          worldwide and represents ISSA to the Human Firewall Council.
 
        - Deb Frazer,
          CISSP, represented the Information Systems Audit and Control Association® (ISACA).
          She is Global Director of APL Limited/NOL Group’s
            IT Audit and Consulting Services.
