Accenture Joins The Open Group

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 6, 2006 – The Open Group, a vendor- and technology-neutral consortium focused on open standards and global interoperability within and between enterprises, today announced that Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has joined more than 300 other global technology vendor and end-user companies as a new member of the organization. Accenture will serve on The Open Group’s Architecture Forum, which identifies and establishes standards for the development of enterprise-wide information systems.

The Architecture Forum developed The Open Group Architecture Framework
(TOGAF™), an industry standard that may be used freely by any organization wishing to develop an information systems architecture. A globally recognized certification program based on TOGAF exists with the primary goal of enabling businesses to achieve the right balance between IT efficiency and business innovation. The 100-member Architecture Forum is made up of some of the world’s most innovative buyers and suppliers of information technology.

“Accenture is excited to take a leadership role in The Open Group’s pioneering enterprise architecture initiatives,” said Tim Murfet, global head of Enterprise Architecture at Accenture. “Interoperability is a top issue for today’s businesses, and becoming a member of The Open Group allows us to collaborate with other industry leaders on standards that break down boundaries between systems and organizations. As a result, Accenture is better able to achieve its goal of delivering IT which enables high performing business.”

Membership in The Open Group means joining a global network of buyers and suppliers who are developing best business practices and standards in key areas such as enterprise architecture, security, identity management, service-oriented architecture (SOA), and application integration.

“ We are extremely pleased to welcome Accenture into The Open Group as a new member of the Architecture Forum,” said Allen Brown, president and CEO of The Open Group. “Accenture’s participation will provide great value to The Open Group’s other members as well as the industry at large, and further our vision of Boundaryless Information Flow through open standards and global interoperability.”
