SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 09, 2006 – The Open Group, a vendor-
and technology-neutral consortium focused on open standards
and global interoperability within and between enterprises,
today announced the agenda for the Enterprise Architecture
Practitioners Conference (formerly IT Architecture Practitioners
Conference), to be held October 23 - 26 at the Corinthia
Lisboa, in Lisbon, Portugal. The Open Group’s Enterprise
Architecture Practitioners Conferences, now in their third
year, are globally recognized events created by and for enterprise
architecture practitioners to examine a wide variety of topics
which are impacting the profession. These include service-oriented
architecture (SOA), agent technologies, aligning enterprise
architecture with business innovation, and evolving the architecture
discipline in line with business demand.
The Lisbon event will also provide attendees with experience-based
insight into approaches and methods that have proven effective
in developing enterprise architectures around the world.
Just as importantly, it also aims to clarify the limitations
that currently exist in the enterprise architecture field.
The conference will explore these enterprise architecture
topics with a focus on the use of enterprise architecture
for the effective support of business innovation and the
creation of real business value.
The Open Group’s Enterprise Architecture Practitioners
conference will feature three days of best in class speakers,
programs and practical sessions for attendees. The event
includes an impressive lineup of industry leaders including
a keynote address from Sam Ceccola, deputy CTO, BEA Systems.
Additional main stage highlights include presentations and
case studies from IT leaders and architects at Accenture,
Capeclear, Capgemini, Instituto de Informatica do Minstério
de Financas, Mitre, Sonaecom, and the Technical University
of Lisbon.
“The Open Group Enterprise Architecture Practitioners
Conference, which is put on by members of our Architecture
Forum, brings together hundreds of architects to exchange
best practices and techniques with their peers and others
interested in the field,” said Allen Brown, president
and CEO, The Open Group. “The main goal of this and
all other Open Group Architecture Practitioners Conferences
before it is to advance the architecture profession as a
whole. We’re pleased about the lineup of great speakers,
who represent professionals from some of the most innovative
architecture practices in the world.”
Conference participants can choose from fourteen unique
tracks, which will offer best practices and user case studies
for enterprise architecture practitioners. The agenda consists
of high-level strategies, as well as practical tips and techniques
within the enterprise architecture discipline. These include
enterprise architecture as a key to business innovation,
agent technologies, development, deployment and management,
architecture modeling and tools, service-oriented architecture,
semantic interoperability, certification and professional
development, TOGAF™, architecture governance, Architecting
to the Edge™, and evolving the architecture discipline
with business demands.
