The X/Open Network File System Test Suite
- Verifies the Network File System specification, including tests for
system interfaces over NFS, and the NFS protocol itself.
- Over 2000 tests.
The Network File System Verification Suite Release 4, known as VSX4+XNFS,
has the following test modes:
- XPG3 & XPG4. Either mode can be used for branding XNFS, although
XPG4 mode performs additional testing of features that are not required
by XNFS Issue 1.
- For the Internet Server Brand, XNFS must be run in XPG4 mode.
VSX4+XNFS uses the distributed version of the standard Test Environment
Toolkit (TETware) as its test harness. TETware, can be downloaded from
the TETworks website.

Disk space requirements on a typical CISC based system are as follows:
Source Source + tests (built for XNFS testing)
- Client 25 Mb 60 Mb
- Server 2 Mb 20 Mb
A typical test run from start to finish takes typically 2 hours.
The VSX test suite verifies the compliance of systems to the Network
File System Specification , including tests for system interfaces over
a remote file system, and NFS protocol tests. Note that the version
of the protocol tested by this suite is the Version 2 NFS protocol.
